Line breaks in Blogger Blog titles

I just changed the "Description" of my blog, that bit that goes right under the title. If you have your own blog, you may have noticed that Blogger controls the line breaks in your description. Even if you add a regular line break, the lines all flow together when you go to view your blog.

But I wanted Bringing new meaning to the phrase "Wiki Farm" to be on its own line.

The answer? Add <br> (which is the HTML code for a line break) where the new line should begin.

Line breaks in Blogger Blog titles

As you can see at the top of this very page, the rest of my description starts on its own line, just as I wished.

  1. Thank you, thank you, Liz! I've just spent longer than I care to admit this morning trying to figure out how to do this - even though I'm familiar with mark-up language, I thought the
code would show when published because I didn't realize this section of editing was actually part of the html 'template' itself. The title description doesn't 'show' in the template so I couldn't edit it there - can you tell me why? It does however, show when I do the 'view source' on my browser. It's under 'dividerclass: descriptionwrapper'. Guess I should have just tried it! Was unable to find any advise on it online - finally stumbled upon yours. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and btw, love your website - will definitely re-visit it soon./bd

  2. Thank you so much for this bit of info! As a former film subtitler, I'm pernsnickety about correct line breaks. My blog looks so much better with that tiny tweak. :)

  3. I have similar problem with my blog title - I'm trying to 'bold' my title and tried your suggestion of html by using the bold tags but it isn't working. I also can't make the [title's] font size larger. Any suggestions? And why does it not show in the html coding? Thanks in advance for your help!

  4. To change the style or formatting of different elements of your blog, it's necessary to change the layout, either with Blogger's shortcuts or by fussing with the CSS directly.

You can find the shortcuts by going to the Layout section of the blog (after choosing the blog in the Dashboard), then click Fonts and Colors where you can choose the Blog Title Color (among other things).

Or you can choose edit HTML and adjust the CSS at the top of the page manually.

    hope that helps,
    Liz

  5. P.S. It doesn't show in the HTML coding at some points because Blogger uses a template to generate the site. There's more on this in my Blogger book and on Blogger's help site.

  6. Just came to this bit of help, and it is TERRIFIC. I spent ages trying to put a line break in the pAGE Titles on my blog. Now, how do I un-center the text at the very top of a simple blog (it's verdisdream2.blogger.blogpost.com, I think; am very new at this). THANks
